Lesson 19 - A: Stopping on the End of the Word

When stopping on the end of a word, one should stop with Sukoon, whether there is Sukoon or not. However, if the word ends with ( ) or (ى), one should stop with Alif.

Lesson 19 - A - Explanation

  • In this lesson it is not important for students to read all of the Ayat in the entire lesson, especially if the student is young. What is important is that the student has to recognize and practice stopping at the end of words. This practice is done with the teacher and using the website.
  • Know how to stop at the end of a word, and what changes in pronunciation happen when you stop at the end of a word.
  • Recognize that the shape of the Sukoon in the Quran is different from the shape of the Sukoon in non-Quranic script.
